 Let's talk!

Talk in Paris

10th October 2018

The next October I will be back in my beloved Paris to visit again the lab of Prof Marion Leboyer, and give a talk on machine learning and personalisation of treatment in psychiatry. It is always my pleasure to collaborate with such good people and talented researchers.

Talk on genetic ancestry predicting response to antihypertensives

24th February 2017

Today I presented my work on personalisation of hypertensive treatment in the Statistical Genetics Unit of King's College. In a re-analysis of US clinical trials, I have shown that self defined ancestry is a poor predictor of response to treatment, and can be improved using genetically defined ancestry, particularly in participants of mixed race.

DITMAE: Dissabte Transfronterer de les Matemàtiques a l'Empordà

4th February 2017

This weekend I was teaching mathematical methods for Big Data analysis to a very special crew; a group of girls and boys maths-lovers coming to Figueres from different schools across Catalunya. They learnt how Facebook manages our data, what can be predicted from our "likes", and practiced with mainly two methods for classification: linear regression and support vector machine. That was an amazing experience - hope they enjoyed as much as I did!

Predictive Modeling Course

July 2016

I am one of the speakers of the prediction modelling summer school this week. I am teaching on Study designs for predictive modelling, and presenting an application of penalised regression to the investigation of predictors of treatment response in pharmacogenetic studies. All my pleasure to share teaching with Daniel Stahl (KCL), Mizanur Khondoker (UCL) and Daniel Stalmate (Goldsmith), among others!

26 and 27 November 2015

I will be talking and interviewing the speakers of the Workshop in biomedical data analysis at the Centre Recerca Matemàtica - Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona
